Star India National Cricket Team all-rounder Hardik Pandya was surprisingly not included in the playing XI of the India National Cricket Team for the Asia Cup 2022 game against Hong Kong National Cricket Team on Wednesday, August 31.

Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team are taking on Nizakat Khan-led Hong Kong National Cricket Team in match no.4 of the Asia Cup 2022 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The 28-year-old played a key role in India’s 5-wicket victory in their tournament opener against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, August 28.

Pandya performed exceptionally well in the match against Pakistan and was adjusted ‘Player of the Match’ for his all-round performance. He bagged 3 wickets for 25 runs and smashed brilliant 33 runs off 17 balls.

After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, skipper Rohit revealed that they have made a sole change to the playing XI and Pandya has been rested “considering how important he is” for Team India. India National Cricket Team skipper added that the wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who was not included in the playing XI in the game against Pakistan, has been added to the playing XI.

“One change: Hardik is rested considering how important he is for us, Pant comes in,” India National Cricket Team captain Rohit Sharma said at the toss.

“We were going to bowl first as well. Looks like an even covering of grass and we need to bat well to get to a good score. We just want to continue to do what we are doing as a team. We don’t want to look at the opposition and play good and hard cricket. We need to do our basics right, which is what got us a victory against Pakistan,” India National Cricket Team skipper further said.
