Meanwhile, KL Rahul slammed a marvellous century and remained not out on 122 till the stumps of Day 1. India finished with 272-3 on the scoreboard at the end of Day 1 with KL Rahul and Ajinkya Rahane on the crease.
Lungi Ngidi picked 3 wickets and is the only bowler to get success in SA vs IND 1st Test. Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen, Wiaan Mulder, and Keshav Maharaj also bowled many overs but they did not manage to get a wicket.
