The Match No.6 of the Asia Cup 2022 was played between Group A teams โ Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team and Nizakat Khan-led Hong Kong National Cricket Team โ at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sharjah, on Friday, September 2.
Pakistan National Cricket Team defeated Hong Kong National Cricket Team by 155 runs in their first-ever T20I meeting to advance to the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup. This was Pakistan’s first T20I victory in 2022. Earlier, Hong Kong National Cricket Team won the toss and opted to field first in the do-or-die match against Pakistan National Cricket Team. Both the teams made no changes to the playing XI in the crucial game.
Pakistan were off to a poor start in the match as they lost the wicket of Babar Azam in the 3rd over itself at the score of 13. The Pakistan skipper was cleaned up for 9 by senior off-spinner Ehsan Khan, who was the leading wicket-taker in the Men’s T20 Asia Cup Qualifier. At the end of the powerplay, the Men In Green were at 40/1.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman completed the 50-run partnership in 43 balls and the 100-run partnership in 73 balls. Senior off-spinner Ehsan Khan broke the 116-run stand between Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman by dismissing the latter for 53 on the first ball of the 17th over.
In the end, Pakistan scored 193/2 with the help of Mohammad Rizwan’s fine 78 runs knock and Khushdil Shah’s quickfire 35 runs stunning knock. Notably, Hong Kong bowler Aizaz Khan leaked 29 runs in the 20th over.

Chasing the target, Hong Kong were off to a miserable start as they were unable to survive against the strong pace-bowling unit of Team Pakistan. Young pacer Naseem Shah dismissed Babar Hayat and Nizakat Khan while Shahnawaz Dahani cleaned up Yasim Murtaza and at the end of the powerplay HKG were at 25/3.

The Nizakat Khan and Co. lost the next 5 wickets in no time and they were at 38/8 after 10 overs. The Pakistan bowlers kept dominating and they were able to bowl out HKG for 38.

Dear Pakistani Cricket fans! You were scared of Hong Kong and thinking of an upset just because Hong Kong played well against India and India didn't defeated HK comprehensively? Why undermining your team? Pakistan is better than India in AsiaCup! 28th August was just a fluke!
